We are seeking volunteer help for accessibility modifications in our home for a legally blind family member.
We live paycheck to paycheck and are unable to cover labor costs. There is no SSI/SSA or government disability support involved.
Materials will be purchased and provided by us on a project-by-project basis as work is agreed upon and scheduled.
Projects include:
• Repairing and improving a staircase for safety
• Widening interior and some exterior doorways
• Building a small pantry off the foyer
• Smoothing floor transitions to reduce trip and fall hazards
The pantry is especially important. It will allow cooking items to be laid out permanently so everything has a consistent home. For someone learning to navigate vision loss, predictable placement and stable organization are critical for daily independence and safety.
The attached photos show the current staircase condition and the foyer space where accessibility improvements are needed.
These are practical safety modifications - not cosmetic upgrades.
We can provide:
• All project materials (as scheduled)
• A respectful, safe environment
• Home-cooked meals
• Genuine gratitude
• Lifelong Impact
Documentation verifying legal blindness can be provided upon meeting for anyone serious.
Please respond with your name, experience, and contact information. References or photos of prior work are appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider the opportunity to use your time and talent to be a blessing to someone learning to navigate vision loss - strengthening daily independence and safety.
