When fed free choice, Up to 4 gallon per head per day consumption is expected at the start while it's still new to the cattle. But they should self regulate down to about 1-1.5 gallon per head per day based off the rates of seen on my own cattle. Guys with higher quality feed are seeing less consumption rates due to the cattle needing less to make up their diets balances.
It can also be fed over the top of lower quality hay or to top dress feed.
