I am senior this year who will be graduating in May and moving back home to work this summer before I go abroad for a year, so I need to lease out my apartment for summer 2010 starting in early May. My lease ends in August, and I won't be coming back, so you may either leave at the end of summer or sign a lease and live there for another year. It's up to you!

This cute studio apartment features one bedroom/living room, a large kitchen, and a bathroom with full shower and bath. All rooms have beautiful dark hardwood floors original to the building and tall ceilings. My walls are painted light blue and the kitchen and light green in the bedroom/living room, but the landlady allows tenants to paint, so you can do whatever you like.

The building itself is an old house converted into 8 or 9 individual apartments, so there are always other people around, which makes me feel safe. However, mostly graduate students live in the building, so it's pretty quiet. At the same time, I never got in trouble for playing loud music on the weekends. This particular apartment is on the second floor. That means it is not handicap accessible, but it is also safer. Even more, it is located directly behind Carbondale Memorial Hospital, just in case! A patrol truck drives around the hospital at all hours of the night, so it's like having your own private security guard.

Plenty of street parking is available, and there is also parking specific to the building behind and in front of the house. There is no washer or dryer on premises, but the bus comes to the corner (a 30 second walk) and goes to important locations around Carbondale. It's a short walk from Shnucks (5-10 minutes) and is also close to campus (15 minutes walking). By bike, the ride is about 6 minutes, and the bus does come by at 27 after, and arrives on campus at 10 till. So it works out pretty well!

No furniture is included, although I believe the landlady has a mattress, table, and some chairs available if you ask. I have an IKEA sofabed in the living room that doubles as a bed and a couch. Something like that or a futon would be ideal. The landlady herself is very nice, and doesn't come around much. However, there is a maintenance team available 24/7 if you ever need anything. There is a dumpster out back where you can easily dispose of garbage. Utilities are not included, but the apartment is Internet and cable-ready (meaning if you can afford Mediacom, the apartment is set). Plus, such a small space is easily heated and cooled, which cuts down on costs. There is a grate heater (which you can see in the pictures below) and a window unit that cools the small area without trouble. There is a large closet that can easily fit a large wardrobe and several boxes for storage.

In general, this apartment is very cozy and unique. I've really enjoyed living here (I have for 2 years!) and I hope you will too. Please feel free to contact me, and we can arrange a time for me to show you the space.

This is a great 2 bedroom 1 bath apt. It is very close to campus and the strip and is right in the middle of carbondale so its only a 5 min drive to both sides of town. I love this apt but my roommate moved out and i cant afford the rent by myself. You would be taking over the lease from home rentals which has been great to work with, i have lived in this apartment for a year and a half and have only had one problem and it was related to a large ice storm. The place is a lower level single floor apt, the neighbors are fairly quiet. There are no dogs allowed, cats i am not sure on though many of my neighbors have both cats and dogs and it hasnt been a problem for them. It has a washer and dryer in unit, dishwasher, huge kitchen. The rooms are the biggest i have seen in any apt in carbondale, and i have seen alot. It is pert underground so it does stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. With the heat on my elec bill is only 70 a month, water is around 20, and cable and internet is 65. If you have any questions or would like to come check the place out feel free to email me and we can schedule something.
